The Azov (Azovskaya) onshore wind farm with towers supplied by “WRS Towers” enters its final stage of construction

The Project started in 2019 is owned by PJSC Enel Russia, a subsidiary of Enel Green Power who is in charge of the construction and constitutes the first wind energy project in the Rostov region and the company in Russia.

This wind farm located in the Don region, near the coast of Taganrog Bay, in the Sea of Azov, is expected to come into operation by the end of this year 2020.

The wind farm will have a total capacity of 90MW supplied by its 26 SG 3.4-132 turbines provided by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) and with a capacity each of 3.5 MW.

The towers have been supplied from the “WRS towers” wind tower manufacturing plant, located in Taganrog (an alliance between the Spanish Windar renovables and the local companies Rusnano and Severstal). Each tower has an approximate weight of 200 tons and is made up of three sections of about 30 m in length that will be assembled in the wind farm itself.

“Azov” will be able to generate about 320 GWh per year while avoiding the emission of about 250,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annually
