The project “Research on Robotic Inspection Technologies for Large Offshore Structures (INSPECTECH)” (IDE/2024/000584) focuses on researching robotic technologies to gain new insights into their potential application in the wind energy sector for the automated inspection of welds in large offshore structures in the offshore wind industry, using non-destructive testing techniques such as PAUT and TOFD.
The goal is to develop innovative know-how applicable to the creation of a prototype solution that will validate the scientific and technological knowledge acquired and lay the groundwork for the future industrialization of these technologies, with the aim of comprehensively transforming manufacturing processes in the wind energy sector.
It is expected that this research will be conducted in collaboration with INSPECTION TECHNOLOGIES AND SERVICES, S.L. (ITS), a leading Asturian company in inspection technologies, thereby covering the entire value chain necessary for the development of the proposed technology.
The project is funded by the Government of the Principality of Asturias through the SEKUENS Agency and the Science, Technology, and Innovation Plan (PCTI), as well as by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
