By extending this new agreement, we are strengthening the collaboration, amount and duration of the same, demonstrating our firm commitment to support the sports and solidarity projects of FUNDAVI as a promoter of sport in Aviles, which competes at a national level.

Sport as a lever for achieving the SDGs

For WINDAR, sport is an effective and enabling tool to promote peace, social progress, tolerance and respect for individuals and communities, which also plays a reinforcing role in the commitment to the Global Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially in the areas of health, social inclusion and education.

On the one hand, SDG 3 on healthy living and well-being, where regular participation of children, youth and adults in sporting activities helps to maintain an active lifestyle that builds self-confidence, while preventing non-communicable diseases and stimulating mental health. We also contribute to SDG 4 and SDG 5, as sport combined with studies is absolutely necessary for a full quality education. Sport is inclusive, equitable, empowers women and girls, and promotes learning opportunities and core values such as teamwork, discipline, fair play and more. Sport is tolerant and independent of age, gender, religion or ethnicity.

On the other hand, SDG 11 where sport contributes to making our cities and communities safer, more inclusive and sustainable. But sport is universal and transcends cultures, so it is also a tool in the face of conflict and for promoting peace, SDG 16. Finally, SDG 17 as sport offers strong networks, groups, associations or clubs among others, which connect people in a mutual commitment.

Finally, WINDAR strongly believes in the positive role that sport plays in promoting the fundamental values and principles that unite children, youth and adults in the promotion of more inclusive and peaceful societies.
