I+D+i MAQUA

The Secretary held a meeting yesterday in the Espacio Maqua with the heads of the technology centres of Idonial, ArcelorMittal, SATEC, Windar, Aleastur, Gonvarri, Idesa and Asturiana de Zinc (Azsa), together with the Major of Avilés, Mariví Monteserín, and the Secretary General of the local PSOE and regional deputy, Luis Ramón Fernández Huerga.

Borja Sánchez remarked that “the future and economic promotion is about innovation, generating new products, diversifying markets, generating new projects and new services”. Hence the regional government’s commitment to increasing spending on R&D&I and also to fostering collaboration between the different companies, entities and organisations involved in different projects.

The Major, Mariví Monteserín, described the technology centres as “a great lever for the future”, and one of the greatest attractions for investors, which places Avilés in a highly competitive position with respect to other territories.

The General Secretary of PSOE of Avilés, Luis Ramón Fernández Huerga, pointed out that the meeting with the technology centres defines the model of city that Avilés wants, which for many years has been committed to innovation and knowledge, “in a new historical reinvention”. “Avilés is the absolute innovation hub of Asturias”, he said.
