- It is the first XXL monopiles contract for the new factory that both companies have started up at the Fene shipyard (A Coruña).
- The 14 monopiles foundations are approximately 90 metres long, have a maximum diameter of 10 metres and weigh up to 2,000 tonnes.
The monopile factory at Navantia Seanergies’ shipyard in Fene (A Coruña), that is built by both companies and equipped with important specific production resources, has completed its first contract for this new type of foundation for offshore wind farms.
The monopiles, built at the factory by Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables for Ocean Winds, are already in Scotland, so the shipyard has proven its capacity to build this product, currently with the largest market share among fixed foundations.
The 14 monopiles manufactured for Moray West will be followed by three other orders that Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables have already contracted and which guarantee full employment at the monopile factory over the next two years.
Moray West, the farm for which the monopiles are destined, is being developed by Ocean Winds in the western area of the Moray Firth offshore wind zone and will have a generating capacity of 882 MW.
Simultaneously, the first sections of the 62 jackets for wind turbines to be installed at the offshore wind farm in Dieppe Le Tréport, France, are being manufactured at the Fene production centre, also for Ocean Winds.
