WFA Project starts assembly of 1st wind turbine

Last week in Fene the tasks of manufacturing project and transfer of cargo were successfully carried out to the dock of the outer port of Ferrol where the WFA platform has been anchored.

This project manufactured by Navantia and Windar in Fene shipyard belongs to the Windplus consortium formed by EDP Renováveis, Engie, Repsol and Principle Power, have start the installation assembly works of first wind turbine.

This fact represents a key step for the OWF and for the OW energy sector, given that such a large turbine had never been installed on a semi-sumergible floating platform.

The assembly works will take place during the next few weeks until the end of summer, when the WFA floating structure will depart to its final destination on the coast of Viana do Castelo (Portugal). The OWF will provide a total installed capacity of 25 MW, the equivalent of the energy consumed by 60.000 homes for a year.
