The jackets project for Iberdrola was distinguished as the best renewable energy project.
The Galician Association of Industrial Engineers has awarded one of the Galicia Energy Awards 2016 to the alliance formed by Navantia and the Asturian company Windar renovables, in the category of best renewable energy project.
The recognition comes for the contract to build 29 jackets – structures that hold the wind turbines at sea – for the Wikinger wind farm that the Spanish electricity company Iberdrola is promoting in Germany.
The industrial engineers point out that the manufacture of these structures is a “pioneering initiative in Spain and with great repercussions on the industrial development of Galicia and in the region of Ferrolterra in particular”.
In addition, with the awarding of this prize, the jury has highlighted “Navantia’s commitment to industrial diversification, expanding its line of business to other fields related to shipbuilding, such as off-shore wind power”.
