First Hywind Turbine ready in Scotland

The world’s first floating wind farm (Hywind Scotland Pilot Park) has begun to take shape on Scotland’s northeastern coast in Peterhead and will bring power to 20,000 homes.

So far, the first of these giant turbines has already moved in place in Scotland, while another four are waiting in preparation on the Norwegian fjord in Stord.

The technology of the STATOIL foundation that has been manufactured by the JV formed by NAVANTIA and WINDAR in Spain will allow wind energy to be harvested in waters too deep for the current conventional bottom turbines.
