A few days ago, the heads of the offshore wind divisions of Iberdrola/ScottishPower and WINDAR, together with technicians and other key people from both companies, closed a three-day meeting at the Hotel NH Palacio de Ferrera in Avilés, where we held a workshop on lessons learned and jointly shared information to learn from each other, outlining the lines to follow in the current projects and those to come.
For some years now, we have had a strong relationship with Iberdrola/ScottishPower both individually and through the UTE with Navantia, where we have jointly participated in all the offshore wind projects of the electricity company, and where we have recently signed an agreement for a new XXL Monopiles factory in Fene, Galicia. Currently we are both carrying out the construction of 50 foundations (TP) for the offshore wind farm of “Baltic Eagle” in Germany, and then they will do the same with the offshore wind farm of “Vineyard Wind” in the USA.
The purpose of these conferences, organised at the proposal of the Iberdrola team, was to jointly assess and outline with Iberdrola a collaboration relationship and an improvement action plan to be implemented in the projects that both companies have been developing, for the common benefit of both parties. Thus, the Iberdrola team prepared a complete work agenda, where we addressed all the disciplines involved in the development of offshore wind projects.
The different managers and technicians from key areas of WINDAR and Iberdrola discussed the main problems and drawbacks faced in previous projects, as well as the opportunities that arise and can be applied to these projects. In this way, the needs and expectations of Iberdrola and WINDAR were pooled and the main shortcomings were identified.
