Construction work is scheduled to begin this month and the plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2016. This confirms another of the projects in the Avil\u00e9s-based group’s portfolio.
\n<\/p>\n\n Windar renovables has become one of the world leaders in wind power construction, with a growing portfolio of clients that includes major energy multinationals such as Gamesa, Iberdrola, Alstom, Vestas, Siemens and General Electric, among others.
\n<\/p>\n\n The plant will be built in the Port of Altamir, in Tamaulipas, a state with great wind power potential. With 75,000 square metres, it will have the capacity to manufacture 500 megawatts (MW) per year, which will be destined for the markets of Mexico, the United States and Central America.
\n<\/p>\n\n This project is part of the agreement of intent signed by Gamesa with Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission to boost wind power generation in the country. The agreement was signed by Hip\u00f3lito Su\u00e1rez, CEO of Gamesa.
\n<\/p>\n\n Mexico and Latin America; and Benjam\u00edn Granados, director of Financed Investment Projects at the Mexican Electricity Commission. Also present at the signing ceremony were Gamesa’s CEO, Xabier Etxeberria, and the general manager of the commission, Enrique Ochoa.
\n<\/p>\n\n Hip\u00f3lito Su\u00e1rez said that this agreement with Mexico “underscores the company’s commitment to the Mexican market”; in fact, Gamesa plans to boost training and research activities in renewable energies.
