The Galician shipyard in Fene concluded last Friday the shipment of the fifth and last platform of the contract that the Asturian and public company had signed in January 2019 with Cobra Wind International Limited, part of the Cobra group and a world leader in the promotion, construction and commissioning of renewable plants.&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The five units will go to the Kincardine wind farm, located 15 kilometres from Aberdeen (United Kingdom). They will be equipped with 9.5 megawatt turbines. Each platform has a weight of 3,000 tonnes, a 30-metre strut and a triangular-shaped footprint of about 70 metres on a side. They are equipped with an automatic active ballast system to keep the platform upright at all times.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last floating platform is now on its way to Rotterdam, where the wind turbine will be mounted. The unit will then be towed to the installation site. Boskalis is responsible for transporting and installing the five wind turbines for the wind farm.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once fully completed, the 50 MW Kincardine wind farm will comprise one 2 MW and five 9.5 MW wind turbines from Vestas, making it the largest floating wind farm in operation in the world to date.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2 MW turbine has been operating off the coast of Aberdeen since October 2018.
